TLDR: Yes

I’m going to assume that the intent here was not so much specif­i­cally mak­ing money as being able to acquire all the food and goods you want to.

If we elim­i­nate the need to do things purely to sur­vive or pros­per, then what moti­va­tion do we have?

Well I would point to all the artists, singers, writ­ers etc. who work away with no chance of return on their efforts. I’d point to char­i­ties and peo­ple who donate their time to help oth­ers with no mon­e­tary reward in sight.

I don’t think they’re being self­less. I think they’ve just found other rewards that make it worth their time and effort.

Emo­tional rewards can be as greater or greater than finan­cial ones and will drive some (not all) peo­ple to con­sid­er­able sacrifices.
