There is a purpose to everything I post or write. I don’t do things without a purpose. But I don’t think the purpose is what a lot of people think it is.
At a certain fundamental level I am a very selfish person. Everything I post or write is for me.
I don’t post the geeky pictures for you. I do it because I like them and it pleases me to share that image wider.
I don’t post the stats posts for you. All the number crunching, I do that for fun. I find it relaxing. And sometimes it gives me answers I don’t expect.
I don’t post my thoughts on a subject for you. I do it because it helps to clarify my thoughts. I don’t care if you agree with me or not. I don’t care whether you change your mind or not.
I don’t write about the things that irritate me for you. I’m not asking for a solution. I just find venting therapeutic.
I’m not writing A History of Science Fiction for you. It’s a purely personal project that I abandon for months at a time if the mood doesn’t strike me. It exists simply because I find the subject interesting and it’s a way for me to explore it.
I don’t write fiction for you. I have an idea that I want to explore. That’s probably why I never finish stuff. I don’t really care if anyone sees it.
I don’t post my photos for you. I like having the stored for my own use.
I’m not asking for your validation. I’m not asking for your help. It’s not about you.
I’m not writing this post for you.

I think the only times when it’s important to not be selfish on here is when selling a brand (pages) or trying to curate a community.
I’ve always had a my Twitter timeline, my rules, view. I maintain that here and on Facebook too, although I’m more tactful about it.
Couldn’t agree more…
Thank you for making this post for me. I enjoyed it.
+Eoghann Irving im so glad you are here. for my own selfish reasons of course.
