Fer cryin’ out loud…they covered this on Mythbusters years ago. Yeah, it’s possible you might, under very specific and unlucky circumstances, get a germ from a soda can. You are more likely to get one from a door knob or a dollar bill and you don’t put those in your mouth.

I always wipe off the top, but that’s because I’m picky, not germophobic. If you use a white kleenex you can see a dark streak of dust/dirt/whatever after you wipe it off.

I’ve been known to wipe off the top just because sometimes I can taste a metallic residue. But it has nothing at all to do with germs. And what +Eoghann Irving just said, too.
I only wipe the top if it’s obviously dusty/dirty.
Oh my, our bodies can deal with a few germs… really they can, trust them.
