    Fer cryin’ out loud…they cov­ered this on Myth­busters years ago.  Yeah, it’s pos­si­ble you might, under very spe­cific and unlucky cir­cum­stances, get a germ from a soda can.  You are more likely to get one from a door knob or a dol­lar bill and you don’t put those in your mouth.

    I always wipe off the top, but that’s because I’m picky, not ger­mo­pho­bic. If you use a white kleenex you can see a dark streak of dust/dirt/whatever after you wipe it off.

    I’ve been known to wipe off the top just because some­times I can taste a metal­lic residue.  But it has noth­ing at all to do with germs. And what +Eoghann Irv­ing just said, too.

    Oh my, our bod­ies can deal with a few germs… really they can, trust them.
