Lower your Sodium intake by 1,000mg In One Easy Step
http://www.eoghann.com/2010/03/lower-your-sodium-intake-by-1000mg-in-one-easy-step/
At a recent check up my doctor advised me that my blood pressure was unhealthily high. There’s lots of factors going into that of course, but one relatively easy step to reduce blood pressure is to reduce your sodium intake. The recommended daily allowance of sodium (RDA) is 2,300 mg. However the average american probably gets 4,000 – 5,000mg. The main culprit is of course processed food. But I don’t just mean pizza’s, and frozen dinners (both guilty). If you eat a bag lunch at work then lunch meat is also a major source of sodium in your diet. On average people put somewhere between 3 and 6 slices of lunch meat in their sandwich. Each slice probably has at least 250mg of sodium in it. That’s 750 – 1,500mg of sodium just from a lunch sandwich and it doesn’t include the bread itself! There’s a solution though. It’s economical, it’s healthy and it actually tastes better. Best of all it’s easy. Go to your local grocery store and purchase boneless, skinless chicken breast (or tenderloin). Make sure it hasn’t been pumped with brine (a common practice now). 3oz of chicken breast (around 6-8 slices of lunch meat) could have as little as 30mg of sodium in it. While you’re at it pick up some sodium free poultry seasoning. Now chop up the chicken into strips, season to taste and grill. Separate the strips into bags (2oz per lunch for however many lunches you want that week) and then freeze them. Simple as that. They taste better than the processed lunch meat, you can stock up and do weeks at a time (I’ve done two months worth before) and you’re cutting hundreds of mg of sodium a day out of your diet. Personally I dropped 2,500mg per week off my diet from this single step. Related articles by Zemanta

How to Make Your Personal QR Code []
http://feeds.gawker.com/~r/lifehacker/full/~3/088AByIfntI/how-to-make-your-personal-qr-code
Ever since I installed a barcode-scanning app on my phone, I see QR codes everywhere—so naturally I wanted one of my own. If you're a barcode-scanning fool, the QR code to the left links to my personal web site. Fun! A QR ("quick response") code is a square barcode that makes getting URLs, location coordinates, any text or contact information onto a phone quickly. With a barcode scanner app installed, you just point your phone's camera at the code to read its contents. Here's what reading this QR code looks like on my Android phone, using an app simply called "Barcode Scanner."
To find a scanner application, Google "QR Reader" and the model of your phone. (If you've got a favorite scanner app that you're using, let us know in the comments.) Encoding a regular URL is a fine use of QR codes—especially lengthy and complicated URLs on movie and event flyers—but one of my favorite uses of QR codes is swapping mobile app recommendations with your friends. Since you can't search the Android Market on the web or in desktop software, you're always stuck tapping in search terms by hand. The App Referer app generates QR codes for every one of your applications. So if you want to "give" that app to a friend, you call up the QR code, and your pal can scan your phone's screen.
You'll also see QR codes on web pages, in store windows, on business cards, and on conference badges. You can generate your own QR code with the information you want others to be able to read onto their phones quickly too. This QR code generator can embed a URL, text, a phone number, or an addressed and ready-to-send SMS message into a QR code.
If you Google "QR code generator" you'll find others, but beware of generators that force a redirect through their site when someone scans the resulting code and gets a URL. (For example, this generator has options to encode Google Maps coordinates, social network information, and Vcards and can print t-shirts and stickers from the codes it generates, but if you enter a simple web site URL it creates a redirect through the qrstuff.com site.) Speaking of stickers, now I just need to print a few with my code to stick on my laptop, phone, and conference badges. Straczynski To Take Over Superman and Wonder Woman
http://www.ifanboy.com/content/articles/Straczynski_To_Take_Over_Superman_and_Wonder_Woman
by Josh Flanagan Starting in July with Superman #701 and Wonder Woman #601, J. Michael Straczynski will handle writing duties for 2 of DC's biggest characters. It's certainly a change from the current teams, who have earned critical appeal, but not necessarily spectacular sales.
I think people know what they're getting with JMS, and for some people, that's something they like, and the chances are that it will definitely lead to juiced sales numbers, especially on Wonder Woman. Further, Straczynski's approach is one that often involves sweping gradiose ideas about morality, and that does fit with these 2 characters. On the other hand, he's also had a hand in really shaking things up, as he did with Spider-Man, and that's something Wonder Woman could no doubt use. The possible downside is the question of whether he'll actually finish what he started, with a long track record of abandoning projects, for whatever reason.
I can't say this move excites me at all, but it makes sense from a business standpoint, and I'll be very interested to see what happens.
UPDATE - Over at the DC Blog, J. Michael Straczynski has released a statement about both Superman and Wonder Woman. It's on an interesting read that you should check out in its entirety, but here's an excerpt:
On Superman:
...we plan to bring Superman back to his roots, to really explore who he is…how he sees us, and how we see him, in a much more personal way than we’ve seen in a while. This is part of a larger effort that will have national ramifications, but I can’t say much more about it than that for now. Keep an eye on this website for more information when the time is right…but for now, let’s just say that Superman may be a lot closer in proximity to you, the reader, than you ever guessed.
On Wonder Woman:
This is a strong, mythic, powerful character who for some time now has been kind of drowning under the weight of her own mythos, so I’m looking forward to paring away some of the layers of debris and undergrowth that have piled up around her in order to get to the core of the character. Coming from the world of TV and film, the first rule you learn is to service the main character more than anything else, so I’ll be writing with an eye firmly fixed on that rule… As part of that process, we’re going to be looking more closely at how Wonder Woman appears, and functions, and her role in the DCU…and what we have planned will, we hope, come across as dynamic and powerful as she deserves to be.

Brand New Iron Man 2 Trailer Shows Off Tony's Travel Armor [Iron Man 2]
http://io9.com/5487929/brand-new-iron-man-2-trailer-shows-off-tonys-travel-armor
The latest trailer for Iron Man 2 is out, and it doesn't disappoint. Watch Tony Stark roll out his new on-the-go armor. Plus new Nick Fury scenes, more War Machine, and Sam Rockwell wining and dining Whiplash. The more mecha machines we see popping up on screen, the more we start thinking that this Iron Man movie will be adapting the "Armor Wars" story from the comics. But we'll just have to wait and see: Iron Man 2 is in theaters May 7th, 2010.
